A CHRISTMAS CAROL CELEBRATES 20th ANNIVERSARY

Alleyway Theatre and sponsors M&T Bank, WKBW-Channel 7, 97Rock, WHTT, The Edge, The Hotel Lenox, and Paragon Advertising will present the 20th anniversary production of Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL, adapted and directed by Neal Radice for five performances only,

December 13-21 at Forbes Theatre, 500 Pearl Street.
For 20 years, Alleyway Theatre's A CHRISTMAS CAROL has presented Dickens' quintessential holiday classic. An immediate success in 1982, the Alleyway production won the hearts of countless Western New York families and became part of their annual celebrations. Its universal themes of gratitude, generosity and redemption annually inspire thousands of Western New Yorkers for whom, without it, the winter holidays would not be complete.

Once again, this season, parents who were themselves young children when they first saw the Alleyway production, will be bringing their own children to see what Dickens' called "a whimsical sort of masque intended to awaken loving and forbearing thoughts." Through the years over seventy adult actors have appeared in the production, with dozens of child actors playing, and eventually outgrowing, parts as the Cratchit children.

Over 70,000 theatre goers have enjoyed the production during the last two decades. The 20th Anniversary Production will star British actor John Smeathers as Ebenezer Scrooge  (5th year) and feature Neal Radice (20th year), Katy Clancy (9th year), David Sambora (14th year), Peter Jaskowiak (3rd year), Michael Mirand (16th year), Joyce Stilson (13th year), and newcomer Jennifer Caruana. This year's child actors include Hayden Denesha, Carly Daniel, and Kirk Daniel as Tiny Tim (2nd year).

A CHRISTMAS CAROL will play for five performances only December 13-21, Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM and Saturday, December 21 at 5PM in the beautifully restored Forbes Theatre at 500 Pearl Street. Tickets: $24 general admission;  $10 students (call for school matinees prices), available at the Alleyway Box Office noon to 5PM, Tuesday through Friday, at the door 45 minutes before each performance at Forbes Theatre, by phone with Visa/Master Card at 716-852-2600 or save service charges by buying online at http://alleyway.com.
