In
the1990's, No. 95 Johnson Park was a boarded up former soup
kitchen, waiting for its dignity to be restored. Built in
1884, on the site of the home of Ebenezer Johnson (Buffalo's
first mayor), the property later served as the main building
for the Female Academy of Buffalo, the first institute of
higher learning for women in the country. In 1995, we envisioned
a new future for the building, one that would honor its
past and be a catalyst for the area's renaissance. The New
Phoenix Theatre is that future.
This
year, The New Phoenix Theatre Company celebrates its eighth
season at The New Phoenix Theatre, your meeting place for
Buffalo's best alternative theatre. Our 2003/2004 season
promises a spirit of adventure that you'll feel across the
footlights.
Four
plays for $50.00! There is no better bang for your buck
anywhere in the city, so won't you subscribe now? We know
you'll be at Studio, you'll probably go to the Irish or
the Kav, and you should, but why not see what the Phoenix
has to offer you?
Wherever
you go this season, please enjoy yourself - you deserve
it. Theatre is something Buffalo does very, very well. Come
be part of the magic.
